What Modern Slavery Means

Modern slavery takes many forms, all of which are unacceptable. This includes human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, servitude, debt bondage, restriction of movement, and mental or physical abuse. It also covers any situation where a person is controlled, dehumanised or exploited for personal or commercial gain.

How We Take Action

Responsibility and Transparency:

GroundGuards recognises its responsibility under the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and similar laws worldwide. We insist on transparency within our business and across our global supply chains. Our supplier approval process includes a thorough review of each partner’s practices, controls and track record.

Supplier Standards:

Any supplier considered high risk must meet our standards, adhere to our modern slavery policies and complete relevant training as a condition of doing business with us. We apply enhanced due diligence to suppliers operating in sectors or geographies where human-rights risks are known to be higher.

Ongoing Vigilance:

We carry out regular checks on suppliers at every stage of our relationship – before contracts are signed, during our partnership and upon completion of work. We do not work with any business that we know to be involved in slavery, human trafficking or related abuses.

Continuous Improvement

  • Our supplier onboarding procedures are regularly reviewed and updated
  • We actively assess and mitigate human-rights risks across our operations and supply chains
  • All employees and suppliers are informed of our Ethical Code and Employment Standards Policy
  • This policy is reviewed and updated annually, or more frequently where required
